A nice photo Steve..
ED's shore gang will join her in the locks to rig 10 or 15 tons purchases on the for'ard derricks to discharge
the logs on deck.
A Palm ship is on 32 quay -Kano Palm or Katsina Palm?
The tanks belong to ship repairers and are used in their tanker cleaning operations.
The tanks were removed many years ago as there are no longer any ship repair
companies in Tilbury docks.

The photo can be dated 1977 to 1979. The tug alongside looks like SUN KENT, delivered October 1997 and DEIDO was sold in 1979. For details of DEIDO, see http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/176913/title/deido/cat/510.

The tug alongside the tank cleaning jetty is the 'Empire' tug TORQUE (ex-EMPIRE SPITFIRE) of Thames Services (Marine) Ltd.

Built Scotts of Greenock in '61, stood by final fitting out and maiden voyage as apprentice, air conditioning - sheer luxury down W.Africa, nice ship but had pontoon hatchcovers a menace, particularly in the surf ports.

Hi All

Could the Palm ship be either Elmina or Enugu Palm, similar design to the 2 K class?

Without closer inspection, could be either K or E class. Deido still looks good, even today.
