Disney Magic, Orkney

Disney Magic leaving Hatston Terminal and in the String about to pass Helliar Holm light.
Weather for her visit turned rather poor; rain was falling in the lower picture.
This was the first time I'd seen her and I was a little disappointed; in profile, her funnels, particularly the for'ard (false) o

Of all the cruise lines we have cruised with and enjoyed, Disney has the best product. Beautiful liners! Mickey does a terrific job!

I agree with Finn, we sailed on her in May and enjoyed our time onboard. Our 5 year old granddaughter had the time of her life!

I don't suppose a 5-year-old would give a hoot about a bitty, busy funnel! I believe there were exciting things inside it (the dummy one).

Great images. The stern sponson isn't as bad as I imagined but the added length must not allow her to transit the current Panama Canal. Her sister does not have the sponson and is still cruising Alaska in the summer months transiting the canal from her Florida base.

I suppose that if all the Disney 'gew-gaws' were removed from the ship, and if she were to be given funnels of a simpler and more balanced design, and if all that stuff behind the aft funnel were to be got rid of then I might like the look of her rather more.
I have never been a fan of any of Disney products anyway, so a cruise aboard one of their ships is not 'on the cards' for me in any event. That said, I only ever hear great praise for the on board product.

I'm guessing the forward dummy funnel is lower and w/ribbed faux 'exhaust pipes' to allow air to pass aft towards the aft working funnel.

I'm sure your guess is correct, lasuvidaboy; I believe the efficiency of the working funnel can actually be enhanced this way.
