DORIC FERRY

DORIC FERRY on the Ribble 1st June 1969 outward bound bound from Preston to Larne. At this time she still had her 20 ton crane aft and had accommodation for 35 passengers, mainly car/truck drivers, although I took advantage of it myself on occasion as a foot passenger on my way back to Larne. Did a return trip Tilbury-Antwerp on ASN/Transport Ferry Service aboard CERDIC FERRY.
Even leaving aside the fantastic ship photos I was able to take on that trip up and down the River Schelde (many of which I have posted on this site), it was totally the most memorable ferry trip I have ever done, before of since: fantastic food; terrific service; better than even a cruise!
Then Townsend Thoresen took over and it all went to pot, becoming just like any other freight ferrry service.
