Good shot, Bobs, which emphasis the attractive lines of this class . Always thought that Universal could have improved that funnel colour which is somewhat bland.

1980/81 this vessel had a serious oil spill that contaminated two cargo holds for`d while discharging fruit at Sheerness.
Myself and a gang of riggers were sent from Tilbury and spent a week clearing up the oil. (a good weeks pay)
She then went to the continent and, if 1981, it could have been when she was sold.
Cheers John.

Sailed as cadet on Clan Ranald and second mate as Dover Universal. Gulf South Africa and then back to Europe. Sad event was death of young AB as we approached Port Elizabeth, the crew were opening the McGregor hatches, they had the eccentric wheels that had to be rotated using a bar, the bar slipped out of one AB's hand and hit the other chap on the head, no safety helmets in those days. We received the body back in Cape Town and buried him at sea as per his parents wishes. Think he was Vincent Connelly, about 21 years old.
