Brings back memories of 12 months on the Dumra (main engine driven pumps and steam auxilaries) and never went west of Bombay.
How lucky was that.

Hi Tanker
There was a 4th "Gulf D" The Dara which was bombed and sank in the Gulf in '61
I have a photo somewhere of the Dumra in HK.

I remember a television programme about one of these ships that featured plants growing on the boat deck. Anyone else remember this?

In July 1968 I had the privilege to be a cabin passenger on the Dwarka from
Kuwait to Khorramshar, we were 2 cabin passagers and 1500 pilgrims, what a breathtaken event, apart from the heat, good service and treatment.
