I sailed on her in about 1969 or 70 as 5th and 4th engineer. great ship sorry to see her go. Had to look out the window to see if we were in Melbourne or Devonport as only over night crossings. The weekend stays in tassy were very educational for a young bloke. Hi to all the sisters in Launceston hospital

While it's not the most flattering angle, I think she's the most beautiful passenger ship built in an Australian yard (Cockatoo Island). The Princess of Tasmania looked too much like a ferry while all the other ferries that came after the Empress looked like floating steel boxes!
