EMPRESS OF CANADA left Wallsend on 7 March 1961 to begin her trials, which lasted several days. She did indeed go to the Clyde and anchored off Tail of the Bank on 9 March. Continued speed trials over the Arran mile on the 10th and 11th before departing for the Mersey, arriving there on 12th March. She was returned to the builders for final adjustments, before finally going to Liverpool on 27 March.
This photo likely dates from some time during her comings and goings during the trial period.
