Great ships to sail on - I was on a sister ship, the Woolston for a long time, and also on the similar but slightly smaller Esso Brixham. Built as esturial bunker barges, they were brilliant sea ships, but prone to going backwards with a head wind and tide! You could get 10 kts if you were lucky, usually more like 6 or 8. I remember being in the Bristol Channel one night in ballast in a SW force 10. When I came on watch Hartland Pt light was abeam to port, at the end of the watch it was 4 points on the port bow! That was on the Brixham I think, bound from Avonmouth to Fawley
