The Esso Windsor was completed in June 1958 at Cantieri Riuniti in Monfalcone, Italy. She was one of a series of tankers of around 35,000 DWT built for Esso between '57 and '59. In '63 she was transferred to La Columbia (Esso Italy) and became Esso Genova, in '69 Genova and again in '69 she was converted into a car carrier and named Hoegh Trader. She was scrapped at the end of '78.

I joined the Esso Windsor in Monfalcone June 1958. Capt Drummond was master for the maiden voyage and Ivan Cole was Ch/off.. Capt. Drummond was relieved by Mr. Cole for the second voyage and Sam Nicholson became Ch/off.. On the following voyage Sam Nicholson became master, I cannot remember the name of the next Ch/off. a large Yorkshireman, a good officer and a fair man. Tommy Altons was bosun.
