I'm sure the service is splendid onboard, but aside from the private balconies, there's virtually no outdoor space. I would feel trapped in this luxurious cage.

You are a hard man to please ssflandre.

Europa and Europa 2 are the highest rated cruise ships in the world. Europa 2 is 42,830 GT has accommodation for 516 passengers and 370 crew.

On deck 11 (above the bridge) there is a sun deck around the mast

On deck 10 (from aft of the ship’s name past the funnel to the stern) there is a further sun deck, with a large open space aft of the funnel

On deck 9 (below the bridge) there is the pool deck and a complete promenade around the ship from ahead of the bridge to the stern

Can anyone imagine a famous German shipping company designing a cruise ship without sun-lounger deck space?

Yes, Fred, I am hard to please! I was a big fan of the EUROPA operated by Hapag-LLoyd between 1965 and 1981 (the former KUNGSHOLM of 1953) and also the splendid EUROPA of 1981. But I'll pass on these current EUROPAs. I spent a lot of time on the older Seabourn ships; stellar award-winners as well, but those vessels also have too little outdoor space for me. It's just a matter of personal preference!
