Everett F Wells, Swan Hunters

This was the last super-tanker to be built at Swan Hunters. Not long after, the houses were demolished and this iconic scene was lost for ever.

Please do not be tempted to rip-off this copyright photo. This, and several similar shots of mine, of the Wallsend terraces and super-tankers, especially

Why put it on SN if you guard it so jealously, any pictures that I or most members post can usually be freely used, not commercially of course.

I do it because I want people to enjoy my photographs.

All I am asking people to do is to enjoy my photos and comply with copyright laws.

That does not mean that I want to give the pictures to others to do what they want with them. It's a bit like giving a kiddie half a bar of chocolate.

If you are happy to let anyone copy your photos and use them as they like that is up to you.

I've noticed that quite a few members ask others if they can use their photos. I think you might find that you weren't the only one to have taken a photo with that view and it would take a fair bit of examination to prove it was yours. However I do agree that it would be wrong of any one to copy without your permission!

I think that I can always identify my photos with 100% confidence. People like me take their photography very seriously.

Most of the personal photographs that are submited to SN would have no commercial value. Many of mine do. Some I allow to be used and receive significant fees.

I googled as per the above, it was taking an age to get into your site so i gave up, will try again though. I also looked through some other areas that showed up on google. There was another pic similar to this taken by another photographer, but taken further back up the street, there were cars on the road too. I guess you got lucky to get your shot in whilst there were no cars on the street? Again this is a good phot.
