What remains of the once HM Naval dockyard in Bermuda, the dockyard having closed in 1958. HMS Malabar on Ireland island remained as a small supply base until it too finally closed in 1995, following the end of the Cold War. The closure of HMS Malabar marked the end of 200 years of permanent Royal Naval presence in Bermuda. Happy days there. (Thumb)

CLANKIE,
This pic was take around 1969/70.we were doing the west indies guard ship duties.
We were the only ship along side at the time, but i saw those ships further down the wall, which made me take this pic,
I think they were whalers ,may be wrong?

Cable and Wirless used the far end of the yard, (to the right of the picture) as a base for their "on station" cable layer. For dockside manual labour the prisoners from the prison on the opposite side of the road were used. Can't see that happening in this country the "lefties" would be up in arms rabbiting on about human rights. (Thumb)
