Sir Tristram being taken from Her alongside berth to Her permanent Moorings just inside the Southern Breakwater in Portland Harbour.Tugs Sandsfoot Castle with stern tow into the bow and Wyke Castle into the stern.29/08/07.
Lol, as You see the anchors are still in the Hawes Pipe. The cables have been broken and passed down through the Panama leads. and the ends are just below the water line. At Her permanent moorings 4 ground mooring anchors have been laid with lengths of heavy mooring cables attached, these will be joined up to the ships cables using Lugless joining shackles. This also applies aft as well . lengths of cable have been secured to the poop deck and they will also be joined up. If You see the other pic adjacent to this one You can see the operation in progress joining both cables together. That being the port forr'd mooring. The starboard quarter mooring had already been secured. As of Yesterday afternoon the starboard forr'd and port quarter moorings were still to be still to be secured. She will remain in that position indefinately. I hopes this puts You right Lol. Just incase anyone should ask the white marks at the waterline are so a visual check can be made periodically as to whether or not the ship is taking on water. The painted white squares are both sides Forr'd and aft.
Best Wishes. Tony.
