I cannot believe it..As a 15 year old I was at Portishead and I was a teaboy for a gang of painters
from London.. we were painting a newly built power station near the locks - it was 1936..
Myself and some of the men were in lodgings at 26 South Road.
Ships were in the docks discharging various cargoes and I remember one was the Zurichmoor and
she had a timber cargo from Vancouver.
There was also a ship breaking business in the dock.
My memories are clear of that time so to see this photo is amazing .... progress!!
We did not complete the job as the company failed - so we returned home and I began a career
