Pretty sure its the ex Cunard ship the Sylvania, the Carinthia which I sailed in became the Fairland then Fairsea.

Yes, built as Sylvania the last of Cunard's post-war Canadian quartet. Completely re-built by Sitmar Cruises and re-named Fairwind. Transferred to Princess Cruises and re-named Dawn Princess. Later re-named Albatros and scrapped in 2004. I was lucky to sail on her and her sister several times as a child and as an adult while operated by Sitmar and later Princess.

I think this pair is by far the most beautiful liner-to-cruiser conversion ever made... from stubby, no-nonsense workhorses to sleek italian beauties :D

I agree, xmtryanx. Most conversions LOOK like conversions, but that was not the case with FAIRWIND and FAIRSEA.

Yes, they were lovely, I was lucky to have sailed aboard them both; Dawn Princess during her first season with Princess Cruises and Fair Princess when she was based for a short time sailing from Sydney, near to the end of her career.
