Would'nt say that is a good idea fitting a hawse pipe in the bow,the anchor would'nt do the boats skin much good if she was punchin a bit

Just noticed that Wully. There is a steel plate the Anchor is sitting on so that would give some protection as long as the anchor is kept bar tight with a bottle screw on the chain I suppose.

Personally i'd have put a big roller next to the Stem same way the Anchor seiners had , well if it worked fine for decades with them then you can't argue with that can you !!

Ah, but the big Portuguese cod schooners mostly had low slung hawse-pipes like this for anchoring on the Grand Banks and in the Davis Strait off Greenland, and its common on big yachts. So, no one solution!
