Hi Phill,
I didn't know that she was still about.
I've many happy memories of days out on her, right from childhood up until the time she was retired. One notable trip towards the end of her service was when she got stuck on a sandbank opposite Otterspool and we had to wait for the tide to free us. Due to the age of the diesel/electric propulsion system, they weren't allowed to go to full power to try and shift us, so we sat and waited for about three hours. The Captain ordered free chips and tea all round while we waited! I'd managed to talk my way on to the bridge for a look around at the time and the radio messages from passing ships were hilarious, they all knew the captain and took the p**s out of him mercilessly.
What is she actually used for now?
