The Communicator has been taking in water during the last day or so and has been pumped out by the Fire brigade. Last heard, she was still on the pier at St Margarets Hope in Orkney today.
It's good that she's to be towed back to Yarmouth, probably Lowestoft, as that is her original "home port" and where she came to St Margarets Hope from after being used as a transmitter platform in Pampushaven for a few years.
Best wishes.
Coastie.
Just read the following in www.offshoreradio.de about her, looks like she's finished.
"Martin Gilbert on the MV Communicator (taken from the Dutch "Zeezender" newsgroup):
The MV Communicator is still in ORKNEY and was sold to a local person who is going to cut her up unless a way can be found to stop it. She was sold for £1000, yes that is right £1000.
The new owner wants to take off the Generators and Main Engine Compressor then cut it up, we have until around the 5th of March to save her, I cannot under stand why Dave Bellis (Miller) did not sell her to one of the people who helped save her!
Let us hope that we can now save her for a Museum maybe, what do you think the more people I can get interested the more chance there is to save her."
