GENERAL FAIDHERBE

GENERAL FAIDHERBE

French steamer with auxiliary sails, name beginning with GENERAL, the second word is unreadable caused by the shadow of ropes and ladder. Homeport: Nantes.

The Vessel behind her is British (from London), name probably beginning with F.

The barge is no. 36 from the Vereinigung, Mannheim.

The funnel belongs to a vessel outside of her. There were a lot of French generals who were remembered in the names of the French "bounty sailers", but I will try to eliminate those with a barque rig, and if more than one remains, then count portholes.

Luckily there was just one general with yards on all three masts, namely the General Faidherbe. https://forum.pages14-18.com/viewtopic.php?t=44841

Built at the Chantiers de la Loire, Nantes in 1901 for Cie. Maritime Francais, Nantes. She had been laid up in the Canal de la Martiniere since 1921 when she was broken up in 1927.
