Early 1942 George Washington was loaned to us and was in Halifax undergoing conversion
to a troopship..A crew were sent over to her from the UK.
In February 1942 I was at Halifax in San Emiliano when some of the crew of George Washington
ran amok while ashore..They wrecked a Seamen's Mission newly opened by Gracie Fields.
