Built Belfast as two-funnelled White Star Liner in 1932.
sister of BRITANNIC 1930-q.v.
Became troopship in 1940
Burnt out at Suez in 1941
Rebuilt as regular troopship in 1944, one funnel & one mast.
1949 refitted as shown for Australian emigrant service.
From 1950 chartered each summer by Cunard to help out on Southampton-New York service.
1956 scrapped.

brother was a Quartermaster on her when she was trooping to Korea and served on her again in White Star colours as in the posted photo... he was also
QM on the "Brittannic" for quite a while also. Snowy

Just one tiny funnel!? What kind of transatlantic liner is that? Looks more like a ferry to me...two hours in line for sandwiches made yesterday. Stein.

Yes. Her second (dummy) funnel was removed after the ship suffered a fire and was completely refitted, not to her previous quality though.
