The "strange jobs" seemed to alway's be given to cadet's, deckboy's and ordinary seamen.

Going on that floppy bit of string, could well be Pete - trouble is it appears to have a noose on the end! Actually the thing down the bottom end looks like an insulator and a safety loop so I'd say he may be hauling up a new aerial. Are you sure it's a cadet up there, Selwyn?

Yes, it was myself up there, but i'm damned if i can remember why i had to up. I remember not having a harness etc and felt safe as houses.

I think you are right John, selwyn is either rigging a new or de-rigging an old aerial for poor old "Sparkie". Purely as a matter of interest are we to bother about HSE when no1 hatch broaches in heavy weather??? All in a day's work selwyn, all in a day's work...............pete
