I was thinking that (re the age), but the carrier has a flag draped from the flight deck with www. visible. I was just wondering how long the internet age had been around to give it a rough date.

Adding a guess I'd say the banner would say www.ableuk or something like that. It wern't that long ago they came here. Also where Dave says about port holes, I'd say that the scrappers had cut holes in the hull to let some daylight in, meaning the ship on the left.

The file info on the picture (EXIF) says that the shot was taken on May 26th, 2010. This sounds plausible as the CLEMENCEAU was brought into Able's in February 8th, 2009 and they took a lot of time to scrap ships at Able's yard.

The vessel with all the holes is the US navy tender USS CANOPUS (AS34) by the way. Already arrived at Hartlepool on December 3rd, 2003!
