Laid up in 1970, she was sold the following year to Harbour Ferries Ltd, Vancouver, to be used with her sistership, 'Yukon Star', as floating hotels at Great Falls, Howe Sound, off the Strait of Georgia.
The death of the Ferries Company President ended the venture and she remained laid up at Vancouver.
The 'Yukon Star' was broken up about 1974 and the 'Glacier Queen' probably met the same fate about that time.

re HMCS Leaside
"In 1950 she was renamed Glacier Queen and sank in Cook inlet in Alaska in November 1978, she was raised and towed out to sea where she was scuttled in January 1979."
