Nice one Charley;
GLANMIRE took over the Cork-Birkenhead-Liverpool service when they retired GLENGARIFF, just as GLENGARIFF had done when they retired KENMARE and the list goes back to ARDMORE I and before.
Good to see you back John -Happy New Year.
Cheers, Rory

Hello Charley,
Maybe I am somewhat confused,the Lairdsbank was built at Harlands in 1936,with identical details ,in 1963 she went to the Cork run and was renamed Glanmire by the British and Irish Steam Packet Co. Ltd and scrapped in 1969,

Cheers,

Fred

Fred, do you mean the mention of the City of Cork Steampacket Co.? If so it's a long story but they came undr the management of the B & I in 1936 with Coast Lines the overall controllers .The ships did carry the B & I funnels but reverted to the old Cork company colours in the early '50's. So the Glanmire was owned by the City of Cork Steampacket Co. a subsidiary of the B & I Steampacket Co. which in turn was a subsidiary of Coast Lines. Hope I have all that correct. Chaley

Yes Charley I know all this ,but what is confusing me is the photograph and the comment states she was built as the Lairdsburn and the photo shows me the ex Lairdsbank renamed Glanmire in 1963. sorry Charley for all this confusion,

Cheers, Fred
