Unmistakably a Stephen Card painting, so real you can smell the steam, hear the engine turn and the derrick guy blocks squeek. On the move again, any change to the watches posted in the mess-room?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forget the crew! I planned top have a couple of the AB's lowering the port derrick at No 1 hatch!!!!! My frame has just arrived and I have to hand it to the client tomorrow afternoon. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Real messy derrick arrangement. Three sticks at each hatch. Must have been able to work either side from barges.

Thanks Stein.

This was quite common for far East ships that did not have derricks at each end of the hatches. Paddy Henderson ships were so fitted at one and five hatches

Stein,

Two AB's on the Foscle. The Mate, in white tunic and cap, shouting from the bridge. All is normal!

Kanbe,

Yes, on this ship had three derricks at ONE end of the hatch. I guess middle derrick was the one over the hatch and the other two were swung out, port and starboard. Must have been difficult to work out the union purchase would work, perhaps one block at the top over the far end of the hatch and another block half way down the derrick to pump over the near end of the hatch... Please don't lift too much at the same time!

Great paint, real ship and the perfect grasp of the scenery background especially the sea water state which is just what it looks like reflecting the depth of sea water and the state of sea bed in the vicinity of Lantou island

Hello Stephen, the background with touch of blue creates nice touch to the whole painting...the stop for eyes ...like it.
