Is this the buff coloured ship that runs out of Melbourne?

This is the old Goliath built at Carrington Slipways.
I noticed they changed the deck colours from dark green to red oxide (and I remember that too).
Now she is called Goliath-2 and was replaced by a newer Goliath built 1993, see "search engine"

Yes, the original Carrington Slipways "Goliath" - when did she have green decks?

I think green decks from newbuilding and then they changed it later.
Or was it the other way around now, you cause me to be doubtful now.
Do you remember?

I joined her 3rd Feb.1978 virtually new in Blackwattle Bay, Sydney as Master. She had red decks then, I was permanently attached to her until Jan.1984 then relieved on and off from Mar.1986 until Dec.1992. I think my last spell relieving was actually under the name "Goliath II" (the original name having been released for the CSR newbuild in Korea) and her decks were still red! I didn't hand her over to the Singapore flag crew in 1993 - maybe TNT painted the decks green then, though it wasn't generally their colour scheme?

Mike, I was pretty certain there was a change in colours, but I must be mistaken, after all you sailed on her and would certainly know better.
I only visited her whilst in Melbourne on several occasions.
I was in litigation with Carrington Slipways regarding product liability.
In the end it was ettled out of court.
Tough guys those two brothers, but I found them fair after all.

i saw the launching (sideways) of goliath at carringtons. I have 2 great photos - but not electronic or negatives. How could I paste them on this site.

correct me if i am wrong - but isnt this bridge replaced now with a modern suspension bridge.

also the whole area - which I held in great affection, is now all units etc.

You could scan the photos and then put them on this site.

And yes, this Glebe Island Bridge now has a modern and large bridge over or alongside it. Haven't been to Sydney for a while , so don't know if the swing bridge is still there or not - maybe a Sydneysider could tell us?

Yes..the swing bridge is still there...permanently open and looking very sad and run down. It was closed recently for a marathon race...will post a pic for you after next passage through. The whole of black Wattle bay is under going "redevelopment" ..also have the "Super Yacht " berth there.
