She made at least one round trip to NZ in white while waiting for delayed 1953 Royal Tour to commence to NZ.

Saw the Tv Programme about the Royal Tour and you got brief glimpses of Gothic in Royal Yacht Colours- but no onboard shots. When sailing with SSA in the 60's we were often shown as a B movie - before the main film -a do***entary taken onboard - Think it was called something like "Red Ensign - Royal Standard" or something similar - Think there was a mixed MN ( SSA) and RN crew so quite a lot of friendly rivallry onboard.

We were still shown the movie into the 70's, great fun the first time!!

The Captain at the time wrote a great book of the tour. When I get home I will gets it name. Went on board in 61 to see the deck boys who I was at the Prince of Wales with. another good/happy ship

and Shaw Savill owned the White Heron Lodge hotel in Wellington for many years. I'm not sure where the white heron connection came from??
