News indicate that on Feb 24 she was beached at Alang. 'Space Ship' no more.

Latest word is that beaching has been delayed until 6am local time on Thursday, Feb.26, due to tide conditions. Still, her time has run out.

This is very sad!!!! The Hamburg is a historical ship! This is where West met East (I think it was Gorby and Bush the elder, in the early nineties) putting down the iron curtain... I visited her in Lisbon in 1974...

Another cruel sacrifice on the beaches of greed... A pity the city of Hamburg sat on their thumbs while this classic beauty was sold off to the breakers... Thank God we at least have photo & paper momentoes to remember her by...
