I remember these ships well during the early 1950's, and I was able to get down into the engine room of "Highland Monarch" and saw her two Harland & Wolff blast injection engines; the generators were also driven by blast injection engines and I can remember the distinctive sound they made when they were running. The ammonia compressors dor the refrigeration plant were driven by horizontal Crossley oil engines.
