Highland Princess

Highland Princess

Seen in London's Royal Docks 1932 the Highland Princess probably looks better in her Nelson Line colours than she did in Royal Mail. Built 1930 by Harland & Wolff Belfast she was 14,216 gr tons.

Often saw them in the 50's opposite our Union Castle berth in KG V.
Talk of their work house blast injection 4 stroke main engines and the sight of engineers on deck in the blackest of boiler suits persuaded me to give Royal Mail a wide berth. The UCL double acting two stroke B&W's were enough for me.
