HMS Bristol - 4.5" Shell Case

HMS Bristol - 4.5" Shell Case

An Ash tray made from the bottom of an expended 4.5 inch cartridge, originally Presented to my Dad in 1971 for the work he did on the Type 82 Destroyer Bristol.
She was built at Swan Hunters Neptune yard under careful scrutiny from my bedroom window! I spent a few weeks on her doing my Harbour training as a 'baby Sailor' back in the late 70's

I am also the proud owner of a similar 4.5" shell case from BRISTOL as a reminder of my time in her as her PWO(A) in 1988/89. Not as shiny as yours though!

Shaun,
Did you do the Far Eat Trip in her while she was BRNC in 89? I had a few rather 'messy' call rounds to 'Brizzol' when she visited Hong Kong on that Deployment (with Ariadne and another Leander?).
The Shell Case was given the captains rounds treatment for the photo - I suspect that mine would have looked very similar to yours before this!
Regards,
Tom

I left just prior to the Far East deployment. I was there for DTS deployments to the West Indies, West Africa and Baltic. Shell case nice and shiny now. The other Leander was MINERVA
