HMS EURYALUS

HMS EURYALUS

Dido class cruiser Commissioned Jun 1941. Following WW2, EURYALUS remained in the British Pacific Fleet until returning to Chatham UK in Feb1947 and was reduced to Reserve status at Rosyth later that year. After a refit at Rosyth she was brought forward for service in the Med to replace HMS AJAX. Re-commissioned for further service in 1950 she rejoined the Fleet in Malta and took part in operations in the Persian Gulf in 1951. Her third Mediterranean commission began in 1952 but she transferred to the South Atlantic in March 1953. Paid off in 1954 the cruiser rejoined the Reserve Fleet at Devonport until sold to BISCO for demolition at Blyth in October 1958, arriving at the breaker’s yard in tow on 18th July
