HMS Mauritius

Water colour prior to framing. This was a result of doing one for a golf club member of his MTB and subsequently for his brother who had been on this cruiser! Payment was in boxes of golf balls.

Nice painting Roger, I've bartered a few in my time, including a long weekend leave from Ark Royal's, Masterat Arms.

Jim, Many thanks for the kind comments. Having done the MTB and then the Mauritius I was asked to do one of a boom defence BAR class for one of their cousins. This I did and found it a great subject. Result more golf balls, pity I resigned my playing membership this season, but they come in handy for Christmas and Birthday presents for relatives who still play the game. Best regards, Roger

If I remember correctly, My last 'trade' was to Paint 'COMMANDER' across the shoulreds on three pairs of white overalls belonging to the Executive Officer (for our American members) again Ark Royal. My reward was to report to his steward at his cabin, where I was handed 3/4 of a tumbler of whiskey."See that off mate, and come back same time tomorrow".

Jim.I like it - the only way to go! I hope it was good whisky, but being RN duty free it would have been ace. Regards, Roger
