Hell of a quick refit! Not a bad looking little ship!

Looks like they've simply moved the flight deck from above the bridge to down aft. Would be very surprised if they intend keeping her cranes etc.

Looks very similar to the Antarctic supply ship RRS Ernest Shackelton.

Shes on charter to the MoD from GC Rieber Shipping and was called MV POLARBJORN as a temporary replacement for the damaged ENDURANCE. She was due to be refitted in May prior to commissioning in June.

A near sister is another GC Rieber vessel RSS ERNEST SHACKLETON chartered to the British Antartic Survey (BASV).

Interesting, it seems that the flight deck has alredy been moved from above the bridge to the stern. When the flight deck was on "POLARBJORN" the above the bridge configuration would not allow her to embark a helicopter, one of the drawbacks of HMS SCOTT when she stood in for ENDURANCE.

A little great problem: lack of hangar for helicopter. In polar zones, it must have a protection hangar.

Well at least the stability has improved by repositioning the helo deck.

USCG had an extending hanger on the Hamilton class of cutters. Wonder if something like that would work.
