The submarine HMS ACHERON and minesweeper HMS AVELEY are alongside the depot ship on 12/13 wharves with the minesweeper HMS ODIHAM directly astern. Up ahead, the noses of the frigates HMS DANAE (inner) and HMS CLEOPATRA can just be seen on 10/11 wharves.

The photo would have been taken a short time after floating dock AFD 58 arrived at Devonport on 10/09/69 to take up position on the 5 basin arm (west) - one side of it is just visible behind TYNE’s forward mast. It moved to the east side of the arm on 04/11/69 to begin raising and sinking trials.

The blurred image above TYNE’s bow is the cruiser HMS LION on 5 basin’s west wall (north).

Yes of course, thanks. She was one of the attractions at Plymouth Navy Days in the late 1960's providing river trips to the public during the shows - two shillings (10 pence) for adults and 1 shilling for children in 1968!
