The Malakoff Drydock that used to be on the North side of the Ro/Ro berth is now the breakwater at the Gills Bay (Caithness)ferry Terminal of Pentland Ferries it was towed to St Margaret's Hope about 2001 and lay there for about a year before being scuttled at the end of the Gills Pier.
Malakoff purchased a larger dock from Arendal in Norway around 2001 - it was moored in the harbour on the Bressay side but was never used and was sold back to Norway about 2005 at coinsiderable loss to Shetland development trust. If you look in my gallery at a photo of the Ferry Dagalien or Daggri the larger drydock can be seen off the Bressay shore.
thanks wmac1953, yes i see it in your gallery pic, am surprised it was a failed venture, there was nearly always a vessel in the old one when when we were in to c/c.
