Dear Sir,

Question: what is the use of uploading these archive files in a very low res (176 kb!) here while everybody can check out the amazing sharp ( 1,1 mb) photo here?:

@Willem Johan,
Thanks for your enquiry, I shall explain why.
1) This is a very international community and for most of the members searching in Dutch databases is not so easy. I would have problems to find online photos in Chile or Greece and many other foreign countries. So your remark is valid for Dutch people only, and then to some extent.
2) You can find the Hudson photo by a name search, but many many hundreds of photos in the gahetna.nl site cannot be found in that way. In the past few weeks I have shown here a great number of such photos, which can hardly be found by anybody, unless you are well acquainted with the Dutch language. It is only possible to find them by using general search terms like 'vrachtschepen' (=cargo ships). The result: many hidden gems. Downloading is not possible in most cases. And the Hudson has never been shown in the gallery before.
3) An international audience is happy with the service I am offering, they get to know ships or pictures that they have never seen or heard of before.
4) Right from the start of Shipsnostalgia the maximum size of the posted pictures is 500 kB (1024x768 pixels).
5) I mention the source of the photo whenever possible. So everybody can try to reproduce the search. And if somebody likes a better quality I would always be willing to provide a deeplink to the photo in the Dutch National Archives, or any other online resource.
6) I research and provide information about the pictured ships as much as I can.

Let's just enjoy our hobby.

Fully agree with Jmac. Thank you Gijsha for posting these - not "everybody" would know where to look or even be aware of these great pictures of fine ships.
Keep up the good work!

Absolutely! You've put up some great photos, Gijsha, please keep them coming. If anyone wants to see more photos of a given vessel, just typing the name into google takes no time at all.
