The funnel looks like a Houlder ship, but did they own or charter any of the SD14 variations ? The mixture of cranes and derricks is distinctive and any identification would be appreciated please. She was in Auckland on 20th May 1987. Thank you,
MauriceJ.

A possible could be Fanges & Pahissons Rederier a Swedish company, if the funnel is blue.
If the funnel is black & the cross yellow ish, Cia Nacional de Navegacao Costeira-Patrimonio Nacional, of Brazil.
As always open to other offers.

One of a pair of substantially rebuilt SD14s with the ability to carry containers

1969 built SAINT FRANCOIS which in 84 became CAPITAINE KERMADEC III and in 87 HAI HING
1970 built SAINT PAUL - 84 CAPITAINE COOK III - 87 HAI MENG

I think in your pic the ship has a CAPITAINE name, but I've no idea which of the 2 it is.

Dear Both,
Many thanks. I cannot identify any differences between the CAPITAINE COOK III and CAPITAINE KERMADEC II but at least this puts names to the picture and I appreciate your kind help. I did find a photograph of SAINT PAUL with twin cranes between hatches 2 and 3 but none on the fo'c's'le and SAINT FRANCOIS with one on the fo'c's'le plus a single crane between 2 and 3 (as in my view) but then saw another of her with the arrangement changed. Thanks again and best wishes,
MauriceJ

Given the funnel colours, this would be as Captaine Cook III of Sofrana New Guinea Line S.A. (Societe Francais de Navigation S.a.r.L.) Noumea, New Caledonia, as such she lasted between 1984-1987, before being sold to Thoresen`s of Bangkok.
