Is that one of the recent X-Bow type rig supply ships?

Really strange to look at but they obviously work since they have become quite common.

Recently I've seen a National Geographic docomentry about this wierd looking ship . They compared it with a similar sized offshore tug in the same weather and the rolling and pitching of the Island Constructor was far less than the normal bowed offshore tug...regards Tom

Build in 2008 by Ulstein Værft (Hull by Maritime Shipyard Spolka Poland) Ulsteinvik Norway as " Island Constructor " for Island Offshore III KS ( Island Offshore Management ) Ulsteinvik Norway.

Tonnage : grt / nrt / tdw - 11.602 / 3.481 / 8.750.
Main Generator : 2 x Bergen Diesel B32:40L9A 2 x 5.875 bhp.2 x Bergen Diesel B32:40L6A 2 x 3.915 bhp.
Propulsion : 2 x Electric driven Azimuth.

I saw her in Aberdeen in Aug or Sept 2008 and thought she looked impressive , if you compare her with old Offshore Vessels like the Bar Protector I think she looks great.
