Jane Maersk 1928

One of a series of 28 Moller Maersk vessels in this gallery; the images which are named with MM have been kindly given by Moller Maersk. Eleanora Maersk and Bente Maersk were managed by Athel during WWII and therefore are included in my website of Athel Ships.

An excellent picture of a ship with an interesting life:
Built 1928 for A. P. Möller the "Jane Maersk" was seized 10.05.40 in Tarakan by the Netherlands. Renamed "Ambo" the ship was used as naval auxiliary tanker. 02.03.42 scuttled at Soerabaja the ship was raised and repaired by the Japanese as "Teikai Maru". She was sunk by American aircraft 30.12.44 in the South China Sea (17.18 N/ 119.25 E).
Thanks for postinng it.
