Anyone know something of the origin of this one? The hull looks very much like a Danish jakt to me. The rig is an English speciality though. I've tried the net, all I found was that she had starred in the Hornblower series and is registered in Gibraltar. Stein

Hello Stein.
JULIA is the former danish 3 m.scooner "JETTE JAN" owned by the
Hvidovre kommune.Denmark from 1972 as summer school ship for
childs, and she is the former danish "FRENNEAES" as cargo ship.
she is build in Faaborg, denmark 1938.
She was sold to Germany in 198? and rigged with 2 mast and home
port of Gibraltar.

Yes, I can imagine her under that rig. Must have been close to the Fulton that I often see pictured. Stein.

The Lilla Dan was built in 1950 with standing yards, but she was built as a school ship, that is, she was meant to have an extensive crew, and perhaps be a little more than just a schooner... She was built by Ring-Andersen with a typical workboat hull, just like this one.
The danes had enough three masters with three standing yards, but the two masted topsail schooner, breton schooners aside, was typically English, I still believe. But that being said, for whatever real or imagined need for argumentation, the Lilla Dan would be a fair comparison. Stein
