Union SS Company's "Kahika" aground on Waikanae Beach near Gisborne.Built by Ailsa S. B. Co in 1902 as "Ennerdale". Purchased by Ferdinand Holm for his Maoriland SS Co in 1907 and renamed in 1915 when USS took over the Maoriland company. She was lying off Gisborne on 24 October
