KPC,
I used to live over the hill in Sumner and spent a lot of time round the Lyttelton waterfront until I went to sea. My grandfather was Union Co wharf superintendant at Lyttelton until 1945 (Before my time). The owner of the trucking company was John Edge - no relative - and I think it was his son, also John, who was a Cadet & 3/O with Union Co in the 1980's.

Small world...shipped on Maori as Deckboy 1963. Lived in lyttelton. Visit occasionally...a much changed place..though still holds some charm. Saw out the beginning of the end kiwi coast...but those were the days of our lives. Sumner also holds some pleasant memories. Thanks for your response.
