An interesting shot and high quality shot, well done (Thumb). Merely as a point of interest, does the tug and barge get automatic pilot examption?

Great photo, interesting comment by Tonga re exemptions.
Cannot comment for Bluff but in Westport tugs and barges require compulsory pilotage. The Master might have an exemption but they still require a pilot. That barge can lift approx 6000 tonnes.

Dear Mark

No, they have always had to take pilots and always had a second tug attached to the barge when coming in loaded and sometimes when outward bound.

Sea Tow 21,Sea Tow 22 and Sea Tow 25 have all been to Bluff, with Sea Tow 22 the most regular.

Sadly we will not see them again.

Regards

Chris

Colours of both have changed in recent weeks, barge (at Newcastle NSW) is now red in place of the yellow, KATEA (at Gladstone Qld) now sports all blue funnels and deck-housing, with both branded with PB Sea-Tow logos.

PS: And that's at top shot too, Mr Torrens !
