Thats quite a few creel boats you have in Kirkwall, is there still as many and are they doing away fine??

There is a fair few right enough, although a few of them have changed hands since this photo was taken, and most of them now work self-shooting with holes cut in the stern or self shooting tables.

Some of the boys have bough bigger boats now as well, so they must be doing away fine as far as I know. Not sure what the prices are like these days, I sold my wee boat a few years back.

aye Craig, thanks for that, ah now I see what you mean about self shooting, often wondered what those holes were cut in the sterns for?? and as you mention shooting tables. I saw photos of the creel boats and couldnt understand what the tables were used for, all explained now and thanks again. The Aussie lobster boats out here could learn at thing from our lads. The boats here have three or four of a crew and the creels are manually shot over the side and watch where you put your feet, or your away with the creel!!!
