Alsatia and Andria were built by Thompson's for Silver Line as Silverplane and Silverbriar in 1948 and bought by Cunard in 1951 for their Canadian service. Both sold to China Union Lines in 1963 and renamed Union Freedom and Union Faith respectively. It was Union Faith that on 7 April 1969 collided off New Orleans with three oil barges being towed by Warren J Doucett. The spillage caught fire and engulfed Union Faith and she sank off Poydras Warf, New Orleans, with the loss of 26 including the barge crew.
