Last Trip

Homeward Bound, last transit of Suez, "Equinox" July 1985.Was pleased to be leaving the sea then-- I'd go back now!

PS-- a small quiz for the eagle-eyed among you--other than the clown in the middle of the shot, what's wrong with this photo?

I am far from sure, but if she is Homeward Bound, she is North Bound and therefore the memorial should be on the Port Side and not as shown on the Starboard side.... maybe the photo is back to front?

John,
As a matter of passing interest, in 1985 the timecharter rate for that trip back from Far east to Europe would have been about usd5,000 per day, against the rate today, which is standing at about usd31,000 per day.

That is too political for me to answer ;) - Suffice to say I am delighted that the potential earnings for these ships is so much better these days, as this is a huge benefit for the maritime industry and safeguards employment for a huge cross-section of mariners.
