I remember her having a massive trip at the Squid out at Rockall in the late 1980's.She caught 1000 boxes of massive "rocket" squid in 3 days fishing, grossed over £100,000 for her trip.

Terry Thresh was one of the first Skippers Marr's put aboard the old fishery research vessel Scotia. He showed us videos of him at the squid down in the Falklands with some massive hauls ( think the most was 40 tons ).

Davie,

Ye ken I like tae argue wi ye....Terry Thresh, working for Marr's ? I don't think so. Terry Thresh was (is) a Boyd Line man through and through. When I was with Marr (late 70's)out of Hull I think he was still skippering Boyd line boats...I am sure it was either Artic Galliard of Buccaneer. He then was definately 'in the office' in a managerial post. Only time I seen him mentioned after that was in connection with various Boyd line enterprises, last one I can mind being the purchase of the Arctic Ranger. Anyway, the man was a top notch Skipper and well respected....maybe I am wrong but i canna imagine him needing to, or wanting to skipper the Scotia !!

Hope yer keepin' weel

He was only on the Scotia for 3 or 4 trips to make sure that everything was working right.
I\'m 95% sure it was Terry Thresh unless there is another Hull Skipper called Terry with a last name that sound like Thresh that is. It was 14 years ago so i\'ll have to see if I kept any of my trip reports to see the name on. Willing to be corrected tho lol.

Thanks for asking , i'm keeping a lot better after my ankle operation 2 weeks ago. I'm finally able to walk around ( not far yet tho ) without being in so much pain so its been a relief lol.

Hi Davie,

Pleased to hear yer ankle is on the mend. I am sure it 'ill 'ease aff' as ye work on it . Like I said...I believe Terry Thresh came ashore to work with Boyd line in some sort of operations manager role. Certainly, I have only ever seen him mentioned in a Boyd Line context. Mind you nae sayin' he didna' hae a loon or similar? Mibbe somebody will come to the fore and pit us right ! lol

All the best

TD
