Nice scene Jim, the sky works well in a wide horizontal landscape......thanks for posting. well done with the book publishing by the way, coincidentally, was chatting with donmac the day before your post......has anyone 'Senior' ever considered a 'ShipNostalgia' Maritime Art book in aid of SN or RNLI, etc.? Presume this would have happened already, but all the professionals seem to have their own publications like you!
best regards,
John

Good idea John, I would certainly go along with that. By the way I'm not a professional artist, I do sell the occasional painting, mostly at the Easter Exhibition in North Berwick. The book is all Geir Rosset's, I just painted the ships he didn't have good enough photos of, 22 in all. If I sold 3 paintings a year other than the exhibition, I'd be doing well, I can paint what, when and how I want, no pressure. I'm too long in the tooth for all the hassle of prints and sending stuff abroad, ect, maybe 10 or 20 years ago, but I was working then.

Love this one Jim. That sky is perfect. Interesting that your sentiments about painting, pressure and prints echoes mine to a tee. I will add the fact that other than commissioned work I find that after framing costs and gallery commissions there is very little meat left on the bone for the artist.

I realised a long time ago that I was never going to be able to make a living from painting, so once that was out of the way I just got on with enjoying it. Another unofficial rule I made was that money made from selling a painting was used to buy things we couldn't afford, eg this ipad, last year and my wife's Mini ipad this year.
My wife does Quilting and Embroidery,( she won a 1st for a Cot Quilt in this years Scottish Quilt Championships) but once again you can never get back anything like the value which has been put into the work. How often have you heard "Oh that's good, you should sell them"?
Anyway I still get a kick out of the number of views and comments on sites like this, especially as it is from people who who know what they are talking about, and it is an absolute privilege to be able to post stuff on the same pages as people whose work I have admired for years.
